In Southern California, carne asada is less a recipe than a weekend habit: a hot grill, a stack of tortillas, limes, salsa and whoever shows up. The part that usually slows it down is the meat run. If you searched carne asada delivery, this guide covers the grill-ready carne asada beef we carry, a simple marinade, how to grill it hot and fast, and why having it already in your freezer beats a last-minute trip to the carniceria line.
Personal Gourmet is a family-owned company (Personal Gourmet, Inc., since 2001) that hand-delivers restaurant-quality food into freezers across seven Southern California counties. No order minimums, no contracts, and personal pricing based on what your household actually eats.
Note: We are not the Philadelphia “Personal Gourmet” brand that sometimes shows up in national search results. This page is about our SoCal in-person freezer service.
What our carne asada is
Our Carne Asada is thin-sliced beef, cut and trimmed specifically for the grill. It is chosen for flavor over tenderness, which is exactly what carne asada needs: enough beefiness to stand up to lime, garlic, chile and smoke. It comes unmarinated, so you control the seasoning, and it is individually portioned and vacuum-sealed so you can thaw a little for a weeknight or a lot for a backyard crowd.
It lives on our beef page next to steaks, roasts and burgers. If you like a thicker fajita-style cut, ask about our skirt steak as well. Confirm current options and personal pricing with a specialist. We do not publish a price sheet, and offerings can change.
Thaw it the safe way
Move what you need from the freezer to the refrigerator a day ahead. Even small packs need about a full day to thaw in the refrigerator, and that is the method to use when you plan to marinate. If you forget, the sealed pack can go into cold water, changing the water every 30 minutes, but food thawed that way should be cooked right away. The USDA explains both methods in its guide to safe defrosting. Skip the countertop.
A simple SoCal-style marinade
Everyone’s family has its own version. Here is a dependable starting point for about two pounds of thawed carne asada:
- Juice of 2 limes and 1 orange
- 4 cloves garlic, minced, and a handful of chopped cilantro
- 1 jalapeño, sliced (seeds out if you want it mild)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil and 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon each of ground cumin, chili powder and black pepper, plus salt to taste
Whisk it together, coat the meat in a glass dish or zip-top bag and refrigerate. Because the slices are thin and citrus is acidic, one to four hours is plenty. Much longer than overnight and the texture can turn mushy. Marinate in the refrigerator, not on the counter, and throw away used marinade rather than spooning it over cooked meat.
How to grill carne asada
- Get the grill very hot. Carne asada wants high, direct heat so the outside chars before the inside overcooks.
- Pat off excess marinade. Wet meat steams. Drier meat sears.
- Cook fast. Thin slices usually need just a few minutes per side. Flip once you see good char.
- Check the temperature. FoodSafety.gov’s safe minimum internal temperature chart lists 145°F for beef steaks, with a three-minute rest.
- Rest, then slice against the grain. Short pieces across the grain are what make carne asada tender in a taco.
No grill? A cast-iron skillet or griddle on high heat works well. Cook in batches so the pan stays hot.
Ways to serve it
- Street tacos. Warm corn tortillas, chopped onion, cilantro, salsa and a squeeze of lime.
- Burritos and bowls. Rice, beans, guacamole, pico de gallo and cotija.
- Carne asada fries or nachos. The San Diego favorite, with cheese, guacamole and sour cream.
- Weeknight plate. Grilled peppers and onions, a salad and tortillas on the side.
Building a bigger spread? Add grilled shrimp for shrimp tacos, sliced tri-tip, or marinated chicken breast for anyone who skips beef.
Why freezer delivery works for carne asada
- Ready when the plan changes. A Saturday cookout or a Tuesday taco night does not need a store run first.
- Portioned packs. Thaw only what you need and keep the rest frozen. Our frozen storage guide covers how long to keep it.
- Kept frozen the whole way. A person walks it into your kitchen, so it never sits in a box on a hot porch in Riverside or Chula Vista.
- One stop for the month. Carne asada, steaks, seafood and chicken can come on the same delivery.
Free in-person delivery across seven counties
We deliver free across Santa Barbara, Ventura, Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, Riverside and San Diego counties, seven days a week, with morning, afternoon or evening windows. See the service area page, or local pages for Los Angeles, Riverside County and San Diego.
Outside Southern California, we can talk about nationwide shipping with shipping and handling. That is a separate service from free local freezer delivery.

Carne asada delivery FAQ
Is your carne asada already marinated?
No. It is thin-sliced beef cut for the grill and comes unmarinated, so you can use your own family marinade or the simple lime, garlic and chile version on this page.
How long should I marinate carne asada?
Because the slices are thin and citrus is acidic, one to four hours in the refrigerator is plenty. Much longer than overnight can make the texture mushy.
How do I cook carne asada without a grill?
Use a cast-iron skillet or griddle on high heat and cook in batches so the pan stays hot. Rest the meat briefly, then slice it against the grain.
Do you deliver carne asada in a shipped box?
Not within our seven Southern California counties. We hand-deliver into your freezer in person. Nationwide shipping is available outside SoCal as a separate service.
How do I get pricing for carne asada delivery in Southern California?
Pricing is personal. Use the request form on our homepage or call 1-888-870-FOOD, and a specialist will follow up with current pricing. There is no obligation.
